1) Categories A & B: 18 years old or over as of April 2, 2008, regardless of nationality and sex.
2) Senior Category: 55 years old or over as of April 2, 2008, regardless of nationality and sex.
3) Amateurs who are not currently having or have had specialist training at conservatoire.

Approval of Participation: Approved participants are required to remit entry fee within 10 days from
approval.
Approval notice shall be mailed after screening.
1) Approval is effected upon receipt of remittance and documentation.
2) In case of cancellation of any entry after acquisition of qualification, please note that paid-up
entry fee will not be refunded.
Entry Certificate: Entry Certificate shall be issued as soon as completion of all proceedings is confirmed.
Notification of Date of Performance: Each participant shall be informed of date and time of performance
after closing the entry registration.
Obligation: Participants are required to carry respective entry certificates at all times and gather at the
place of contest on the date designated by the Steering Committee
Traveling & Accommodation Expenses: To be covered individually by participant.
Program Order: Follow Steering Committeefs direction.
Procedures of performance: Follow Steering Committeefs direction. .
Evaluation: To judge in compliance with the rule prescribed by the Steering Committee.

Test Piece &PerformanceF
1) Test piece needs to match the score open to public.
2) Within the given time frame, plural tunes can be played.
3) Repetitions in the tune can be freely arranged.
4) Tunes must be played in the order as listed in the application form.
5) One copy each of printed scores must be mailed along with an application form.
(6) Player shall be disqualified if his/her performance fails to satisfy the minimum required time length.
In case of over time, performance shall be cut off halfway. (No point deduction)

Chapter 1.General Rule
Article 1. The Competition shall be named International Amateur Piano Competition (hereinafter referred as
the Competition. and gThe International Amateur Piano Competition (abbreviated as IAPC)h shall beused for
international and foreign operation purpose.
(Organizer)
Article 2. Japan Austria Cultural Association shall host the Competition.
Chapter 2. Purpose and Operation
(Purpose)
Article 3. The Competition is targeted for amateurs aiming to improve their skill levels as well as to make
the world realize the great piano music. Further, the Competition is established in pursuit of spread of
music, based on the dedication to understanding and friendship between Austria and Japan promoted through
active cultural exchanges between the countries.
(Operation of the Project)
Article 4. In order to fulfill the purpose as mentioned in the preceding article, the Competition shall
implement the following items:
(1)The Competition is to be held annually.
(2)The Competition consists of Categories A & B and Senior Category. As to Categories A & B, 1st & 2nd
Prelim.Rounds are conducted before Final Round, whilst Senior Category
participants compete only at Final Round.
‡@Category A is specially targeted for those who are passionate about playing the piano.
The Competition aims to enhance their skill and also to make the world
realize the greatness of piano performance.
‡ACategory B is designed to provide an opportunity for those who want to
enjoy piano performance without regard
for skill level or hope to play on the stage, for purposes of enlightenment
of the world and increase of music lovers.
‡BSenior Category is established so that people aged 55 or over can get more experiences of performance on the stage
and promote friendship among participants. The Senior Category contest
thus aims to broaden the age bracket of amateur
piano players.
(3)The organizer shall take the responsibility of preparation and sales
of all printings, CDs and published matters relating
to execution of the project.
(4)Other operation required to attain the purpose.

Article 5. Japan Austria Cultural Association@Head Office shall take on a job as
Secretariat@of the Competition.
Chapter 3. Steering Committee
(Constituent)
Article 6. For operation of the Competition, Steering Committee members shall be annually elected to form a
Steering Committee. The Committee consists of several members including
Chief Chairperson and Vice Chairperson
(Role)
Article 7. The Committee mentioned in the preceding article shall be in charge of organization, planning and
operation for implementation of the Competition. It also chooses judges
for assessment, and performs award presentation.
(Period of the Competition and Test Pieces)
Article 8.The Steering Committee shall determine the period of the Competition and Test pieces.
Chapter 4 Participation
(Entry Qualification)
Article 9
(1)Categories A & B: 18 years old or over as of April 2, 2008, regardless of nationality and sex.
Senior Category: 55 years old or over as of April 2, 2008, regardless of nationality and sex.
(2)Amateurs who are not currently having or have had specialist training at conservatoire.
(Excluding training received before the age of 18).
(3)Application to more than one category is not allowed.
(4)Past 1st prize winners of this competition are barred from participation.
Past 1st prize winners of Category B are not allowed to apply to the same Category as before.
(Application)
Article 10. The given application form must be filled for entry application of the Competition, and mail it
to Japan Austria Cultural Association along with a document which certifies each onefs birth date no later
than the designated deadline. Any changes in the submitted tune list will not be accepted once received.
(Approval of Entry)
Article 11.
Entry Notices shall be sent by mail to numerary applicants after screening
the aforementioned documents
by the Steering Committee upon receipt.
(1)Each of the approved applicants is required to remit an entry fee
(Categories A & B: 25,000yen / Senior Category: 15,000yen) within 10
days after arrival of the notice to
the designated bank account.
(2) Participants are required to send two face portraits. (40x50mm)
(3)Entry qualification is effected upon receipt of the remittance and documents.
(4)Entry registration shall be processed on a first-come-first-served basis
and closed as soon as the fixed number is reached.
(5)As to the 1st Preliminary Round for Categories A & B, each applicant
can specify his/her preferred date,
and Senior Category likewise. However, this will not guarantee to satisfy
everyonefs wish.
(6)No entry fees will be returned in case of cancellation after obtaining
entry qualification.
(Entry Certificate)
Article 12. Entry Certificate shall be issued after confirming the completion of the proceedings as mentioned
in the preceding article.
(Notice of Performance Schedule)
Article 13. Performance date shall be notified to participants after closing theregistration.
(Participantfs Obligation)
Article 14. Participants are required to carry each onefs entry certificate at all
times and gather at the place
of contest on the date designated by the Steering Committee
(Traveling & Accommodation Expenses)
Article 15. To be covered individually by participant.
(Program Order)
Article 16. In regard to the program order, participants are required to follow the
Steering Committeefs direction.
(Performance)
Article 17. All procedures relating to performance are required to follow the SteeringCommitteefs
direction.
(Program)
Article 18. In regard to program, participants are required to follow the Steering Committeefs direction.
The score of the listed piece needs to be in accordance with the ones open to public. Participants are requested
to send a copy of the printed score along with the entry form.
(Evaluation)
Article 19. Evaluation of performance shall be carried out based on the evaluation
rule stipulated by the Steering Committee.

Article 20. All audiovisual copyrights of the Competition.. belong to Japan Austria
Cultural Association.

Article 22.
(1) Judges shall be elected by the Steering Committee.
(2) Chief Judge shall be elected by the Steering Committee from among the judges.
(Evaluation Method)
Article 23. Evaluation Method shall be determined by the Steering Committee.
(1)In principle, same judges shall evaluate all categories from the Preliminary
Rounds throughout the Final Round.
(2)Judges are not allowed to abandon the responsibility.
(3)Judges are not allowed to have personal contacts with participants during
the Competition.
Chapter 6. Award
(Prize)
Article 24. Prize shall be given in accordance with the following rule.
(1) As a result of evaluation, winners in the 1st place to 3rd place at
the Final Round shall receive respective prizes
in Categories A & B. Commemorative gifts shall be presented to all
the rest of finalists.
Besides, a few outstanding performers shall be named as successful competitors.
Exceptional Performers shall receive
Judgesf Special Awards in Senior Category. All the above finalists shall
receive certificates of merit signed by Chairman
of the Japan Austria Cultural Association.
(2) Winners shall receive the following prize money.
Category A: 1st Winner 70,000yen 2nd Winner 50,000yen 3rd Winner 20,000yen
Category B: 1st Winner 30,000yen 2nd Winner 20,000yen 3rd Winner 10,000yen
(Awards Presentation Ceremony)
Article 25. Award Presentation Ceremony shall be held after the Final Round is over.
Additional Rules
(1) The Regulation shall be put into effect on December 7,2008.
(2) The Regulation can be amended with an approval by Chairman and Executive Director.
(3) The minor rules of the Regulation shall be stipulated separately with
an approval by Chairman.
